The sourdough course actually works, which I didn't expect from a machine at this price. I've been running the dough setting on weekends and baking the loaf in my regular oven, and the crust comes out better than anything I managed by hand.

I've been baking the 2 lb rectangular loaves every Sunday and they come out perfectly shaped for sandwiches, which was the whole reason I bought this. The sourdough course takes most of the day but the crust is worth the wait.

The cake course actually works better than I expected — I've made banana bread in it twice now and the crust doesn't get tough like my old machine did. The sourdough setting takes most of the day, but I just set it in the morning and come home to a warm loaf.
